What is bed-in-a-bag?

This as you might know, refers to bedding and not bed. It is just a mishmash collection of just about any combination of the aforementioned list of bedding items. An online might offer bedding mixed and matched in any variation that suits their fancy or make the most sense to them.
What do you look for when purchasing a bed-in-a-bag?
Read the description carefully if you are making your purchase at a online store store.
Call the store or send them an email to ensure that you are getting what you think you are buying.
It is the job of the store owner to make it clear what they are selling. If they don’t they probably don’t deserve your money.
What’s in the bag?
To highlight how one bed-in-a-bag can vary from the other, I took sampling from few random online bedding stores. I haven’t altered the text in any way.

- Comforter; 2 Pillow Shams, 2 Decorative Pillows, 2 Euro Shams,1 Skirt
- 4 Piece Sheet Set 1 pillowcase, 1 fitted sheet, 1 comforter, 1 duvet cover
- 1 Duvet Cover, Bed Sheet, Pillow Cases,
- Comforter, bed skirt, two standard shams one flat sheet, one fitted sheet, two pillowcases
As you can see, all five are different.
I could have easily added another 5 variations with no problem at all.
This highlights the importance of paying close attention to the descriptions. I have seen a sheets set displayed for sale as the only item in a bed-in-a-bag. Seriously.
Do you save money buying a bed in a bag?
Yes, you do save money. The items are generally priced lower than their individual prices if you purchase them together.
However, it is up to you do decide whether or not you really need all the items that are in the bag. They do provide a great bargain in some cases.
Why do they call it bed-in-a-bag, it’s not a bed?
I have no idea how the phrase came about. My theory is that “bedding-in-a bag” or “bedding-in-a-box” is a bit of a tongue twister. It could have been shortened to bed-in-a-bag /box simply out of convenience. I’m just guessing, but try saying “bedding-in-a bag” out loud a few times if you think my “theory” is far-fetched.
Whether or not my presumption is correct, the rest us should be thankful that we are “saved” from tongue twisting on bedding-in-a-bag.
