Getting kids to sleep on time
In a recent at the baby center centered around getting good sleep for your kids, the author Ziba Kashef emphasises the importance of getting kids to bed on time. In the article she cited findings that kids nowadays gets on average 2 hours of sleep less then they did a generation ago. Maybe it’s because there is a lot more for kids to do in this generation, talk about the advent of cable television, video games, the internet and all the other things that can occupy a kids time.
Parents too have the same, problem; with long work hours and sometimes long commute, they have little time to catch up on their favorite activities too. The article went on to emphasize the fact that allowing children to go to bed too late will create overfatigue. Parents have to get the children into sound bedtime habits. They will have to contend at first with some bedtime battles, but the children will soon get used to their new bedtime schedule. The writer also states that when parents put off bedtime to avoid these battles in hopes that children will crash, it usually does not work out that way because when kids get overly tired they get wired resulting in them staying up even later.
